It's hard to believe 2019 is almost over. As we get ready to head into 2020, it's fun to look back on the previous year. One way to do that is by checking out Google's annual Year in Search. Google breaks down everything we were searching for over the year and shares the data. From music, news and popular TV shows, Google reveals what we've been most curious about in 2019. Here are the terms we Googled the most in 2019:
10) Jussie Smollett
Jussie Smollett made headlines after he reported a hate crime attack in Chicago back in January. Shortly after reporting the crime, however, investigators concluded Smollett orchestrated the crime himself in order to boost his public image.
9) iPhone 11
Apple dropped the newest iPhone update in 2019, which unsurprisingly drew a lot of attention. The drop included new colors and an updated camera.
8) Game of Thrones
Game of Thrones was the must-watch show for years before coming to a divisive end last spring. The final season faced a ton of negative reviews from critics, as well as backlash from fans. In fact, fans were so unhappy they created a petition for HBO to remake season 8.
7) Avengers: Endgame
The epic conclusion to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Infinity Saga surpassed Avatar to become the highest-grossing film of all time.
6) Luke Perry
Riverdale and Beverly Hills 90210 star Luke Perry unexpectedly passed away at 52 after suffering a massive stroke. The former teen heartthrob had a long career in Hollywood, including roles in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and The Fifth Element.
5) Antonio Brown
The controversial former NFL player made headlines after being released from the New England Patriots roster earlier this year following accusations of sexual misconduct by two women. Antonio Brown denies the allegations. The Patriots were the third NFL team to fire Brown in 2019.
4) Hurricane Dorian
Hurricane Doran wreaked havoc on the Bahamas, United States and Canada in September. The storm tragically killed at least 30 people and caused massive destruction in the Bahamas.
3) Nipsey Hussle
Up and coming west coast rapper Nipsey Hussle was tragically shot and killed in Los Angeles on May 31. He was just 33-years-old.
2) Cameron Boyce
Disney channel star Cameron Boyce passed away at just 20-years-old in July. The beloved Descendants actor passed away in his sleep after suffering a seizure related to epilepsy.
1) Disney+
The streaming wars were a hot topic in 2019, so, it comes as. no surprise that Disney+ was the most searched term on Goole in 2019. From new Star Wars properties like The Mandalorian to all our childhood favorites, such as Cinderella and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Disney+ made a strong case for being the most exciting streaming platform of the year.
