Billy Joel was on hand Tuesday as a building at New York's Long Island School for the Arts was re-named for his late mother.
The Rosalind Joel Conservatory for Music and Theater is the result of a $1.5 million donation from Billy's personal foundation, which helped save the school from closing. The Piano Man told the students and school officials, "My mom encouraged me. She figured that’s where I was going. She tried to give me the tools. She would’ve loved this." (Newsday)
