The village of Omena, Michigan has elected a new mayor and she's purr-fect for the job.
Sweet Tart McKee, a nine-year-old cat who previously served as the village's vice mayor, was elected last weekend to the top office and became the fourth cat to serve as mayor. 7000 votes were cast, each with a $1 donation to the local historical society. Mayor Sweet Tart defeated a large field of candidates, which included 13 dogs, a peacock, a goat, a chicken and another cat. They were all given positions on the village council. Sweet Tart will serve as mayor until 2021. (WPBN-TV)
